Which shop manual is the best?

I am looking at buying a shop manual for my Mercury 80 HP engine. There are two that I'm looking at. One is by "Kallton C. LaHue" and the other is done by "Seloc."<br /><br />The Seloc costs about double what the other one costs. Is there much difference between the two? Or is a book other than one of those two better? What are your experiences with either books?<br /><br />Thanks.

Manuals like Seloc are pretty vague in what they tell you. If you can get your hands on one, a factory manual is the way to go. If you bought your enging new there may even be an order form for a shop manual in it. If you didn't buy it new you can order one from any dealer that sells that engine or order one off the OEM web site.

I had the same questions.<br />What I did was to go to the library and check out whatever I could find.<br />That's a cheap way to find out!<br />Mike

Get the Clymer Manual for your engine.<br /><br />I've owned them for Mercury OB's, Evinrude OB's, and OMC outdrives.<br /><br />You won't be disappointed.
