Which manual should I buy?

For a 74 Johnson 85hp? I would like something very in-depth and extensive. Thanks

Hi, Vegard.<br /><br />For one engine, I always prefer the OEM Service Manual.<br /><br />For a range of engines, either Seloc or Clymer.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Yeah, I would try to get an OEM manual too. I have a 1975 85hp johnson and the clymer just doesn't cover it very well. It'll get you by most of the time though. <br />btw, have you started the motor yet?<br />Rich

get the OMC. i bought a 1978 manual for the 85 to 140 on ebay in good condition for less than 12.00.

I will definitely get the manufacturer one then.<br />Anyway, about the project, Im gonna try to start the motor this weekend... As for the boat, Ive decided I want to everything right (the long hard way) and separate the deck, and rebuild the transom just in case. This weekend, I will get going on all this stuff.
