Which Make Motor to Buy?

I am in the market for a good used motor 25 - 40 hp and am looking for advice on which makes are better than others or what to stay away from. Trying to avoid ending up with a lemon. I'm new at this. <br />Thanks

hey bob i would recomend that you not get FORCE motors. they are probablly the worst motors to get. personally i think the best motors to get are HONDAS but if ur not willing to spend that much u should look at mercury.

Hmmm. I agree with Toddamous about the Honda. I disagree on second choice. The OMC LOOP CHARGED 40s are a superior engine, also the more recent, 3 cylinder 35s are excellent.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . . . <br />JB

I got a loop-charged 130 and I'm more impressed with it than any I've ever owned.

Mercury...been in the small outboard motors for years,dependable, parts readily availible,as are dealers, has good warrenty system,reasonabally priced. Beware of OMC, went bankrupt,won't honor warrenties. Honda is good but heavy and expensive.<br />Happy shopping!
