Which Lake Do You Enjoy the Least?

With few inland Lakes large enough for my boat, I found the least enjoyable is Lake James, in Angola, Indiana on weekends. It is consumed by kids on ski jets, overloaded pontoons, and kids driving daddies boat. Traffic is similar to a mall at Xmas, and the access ramp is at a Deli-bait shop where you often have to wait 30+ minutes to get in or out, compounded by cars blocking the ramp to buy 100 oz Mountain Dews and Lottery Tic's. You launch into a inlet with 2 way traffic behind you less than 25', and no place to tie off if it is crowded. :(

Re: Which Lake Do You Enjoy the Least?

NY, I guess I would have to say any lake that meets the description above. My favorite thing is to take time off during the week to be on the water. Least favorite time is 4th of July. When the PWC's are on you like flies and thousands of boats. It would not be so bad if all those operators knew what in the heck they were doing. Maybe you can relate to this, but I always tell my wife, most of these people don't have a love for boats - they just have boats. And often, those are always the guys with the most expesive boats. I suspect most of the boaters on this site understand what I mean that boats are a passion. I think that to a lot of people a boat is the same to them that a tennis racket is to me. I have one, but I don't really know how to use it. I might enjoy a game of tennis now and then, but I have no passion for the game.
NY, that is not at all what your question was, but my answer just came out that way.

NYMINUTE, I 100% agree with you on Lake James horrible for trafic and people that do not belong behind the wheel of a moped let alone a boat going 40++ mph every wich way across the lake! Another is Gull lake in Michigan same conditions. Thankfully we have a larger boat and we go to lake Michigan where 99% of the boaters there DO no something about boating, not to mention the traffic. The only place you come within 1/2 mile of another boat is in the harbor. Just my humble opinion...

The original post is a perfect description of many lakes unfortunately. I was visiting my brother at Greenwood Lake (part in NJ part in NY) on a weekday and it looked so nice - really scenic surroundings considering the proximity to NYC, and then on the weekend it was IDENTICAL to the desciption in post #1.

I love Lake Michigan, worth the drive to be in a place where there are boaters who truly appreciate the recreation. :)

Lake Hopatcong, the largest lake in NJ at 2500 acres, really is the pits. Even if you took off all the drunken and irresponsible boaters, all the "no wake" signs, the lake itself is still the pits. Too many large shallow rocks (boulders, really) lots of sea grass and sand bars.

I have been on that lake 4 times and none of them as pleasant an experience as being out on a bay.
