my motor is a 90 135 black max and the PO didnt have the flywheel cover. it was a rebuilt with no problems other than the annyoing temp sender. now that its winter im stockloading on parts such as a new carb kit and head gaskets etc. i found 2 flywheel covers PN 18896A1 (which is the kit??) and PN 79918A1 (non-louvered). im assuming i need the kit but not sure.

The 90 & 91 models came either way ,16 amp or 40 amp stator. If you have the 40 amp stator you will need 18896A1 cover kit. Its hard to tell by flywheels as they had a 2 piece 16 amp and a 2 piece 40 amp so you cant go by color.(usually 16amps are red,40 amps are green). If you have the large rectifier on rear of engine or it has beeen updated with kit (2 rectifiers) its a 40 amp system.
