Ok, I don't do much with electricity so I need to ask about the correct type of voltage meter to get to test is my blower is getting power. I just replaced the blower motor earlier this year but it has been making some noise and now doesn't come on when I turn on the switch. I checked the connections and they are all tight. So, which tester? The only electrical tester I have is one I bought for home use when I might be replacing a light or electrical outlet or something of that nature. It simply have the 2 probes and a light for 110 V or 220 V. I'm assuming this won't work. So, tell me if it will work and if not, what should I buy to keep on hand? Thanks in advance, Greg

One like Bubba posted would to work well.

I have a cheap $5 Harbor Freight multimeter that I keep on my boat, cheap enough that I don't care if it gets ruined my moisture or dropped overboard.

Re: which electrical tester to buy/use

Radio shack only had a multimeter so I bought it for about 20 bucks. I checked and the wires by the blower were getting electricity. I went to the "control panel/dash board" of the boat, looked underneath and checked the connection, no connectivity. I followed the wires and they led to a panel of fuses. One of them was out! I didn't have fuses on hand but figure that's probably the answer. I will report back tomorrow. Once again, I appreciate the help!

That was the issue, a simple 10 amp fuse! I bought 2 pkgs of fuses that will be staying in the boat from now on...... Thanks again for all your help!
