Which Contol cables do I need?

I recently picked up a 1990 70HP Evinrude. The motor came with an older Power Pilot control box with no cables. I went to my local Evinrude dealer to pick up the cables. When I described what I needed he started telling me that this motor shouldn't have the type of connection I was describing.

Here is a pic of the connections on the motor.



The cable for the gear selector is not a problem. Identifying the type of cable end I need for the throttle seems to be a problem for the parts guy.

These are the only numbers I see on the motor.



Does anybody out there identify the type of cable end that I need? Does anybody know of a good place to get these online?

That looks just like my pre 1979 OMC control cable hook ups. I wonder if the previous owner did some part swaps to convert the motor to the older style? The motor looks white to me not rude blue also before starting you might want to clean up all of debris laying in the lower cover before it gets sucked up into the carbs.

Post up a pic of the motor a little further away for perspective, including the cover too. I bought my control cables here at iboats.

I know the guy I got the motor from. He said he did not change the piece on the motor. He is looking around his shop to see if he has the right cable end. Are the ends changeable?

Well now that I can see the Johnson 70, it's not pre 1979. Here is the best pic of the cable ends you need. In the pic, the top end is in the controls and the bottom end is for the motor.

What keeps the cable from slipping off of the motor?

A washer and nyloc for the shifter cable end and the throttle end has a turnbuckle on the end that holds it on.
