I am about to pull the trigger on a used boat. I will use it around Hilton Head. One is a 2004 24 ft Sea Chaser walkaround with a Honda 225 4 stroke (250 hrs.). The other is a 2004 24 ft Pro-Line walkaround with a 225 Mercury 2 stroke EFI Saltwater series (140 hrs). Both are in good shape but the Pro-Line is in better shape (like new). Both are listed at $29,000. The bank will loan $3000 more for the Pro-Line for some reason. Thanks for the help.

Welcome aboard.

It's all about condition and of course you'll get a survey. Sounds like both boats are similar so chose the better condition boat assuming the survey checks out.

Happy hunting.

it is a apples to apples comparison practically,,sea chaser rig theirs w/ honda's 4 bangers
Pro line use zukes and mercs,,sure it is not a 23'?
as stated depends on condition and survey
I am partial to the Proline.

Re: Which Boat would you buy?

THe Pro-Line is a more expensive boat new and holds its value better than the Sea Chaser. They have also been around longer than the Sea Chaser. The Sea Chaser is build by Carolina Skiff...

The Honda 4 Stroke is a Great motor and I have not heard of serious issues with them Coast Guard has them on alot of their boats. I am partial to the 2strokes and that Merc has less hours. If it were me, I would go with the Proline based on your description. However, condition is everything. Inspect them well and take the better of the two.

Yep...The boat is a 23 Walk but the owner said this was a 24 ft boat. Is that not correct? This boat is in very good shape. $28,000 a fair price. Thanks for the replies.

Based on your comments, I would say it is fair. Hard to know without looking at it personally of seeing pictures.

I am partial to the Proline, but that is just me ... and I ain't giving you any money for the boat! Price seems fair ... not great, but fair (Proline probably a little better deal). It comes down to you and what you like best, cause in the end, you are the one making the payments.

Made a offer of 28 for the Pro Line and it was turned down. Plan to make a offer on the Sea Chaser now.

Have you been a boater for a while? What size/type of boats do you and have you had? I personally would hate the idea of making payments on a boat. Maybe you could just stick with what you have and save up the cash? If not maybe you can find one slightly older and avoid making payments.

Re: Which Boat would you buy?

Go for the ProLine. I have a 21 WAC and just love it so much that when my 140 rude died I bought a wellcraft boat w/trailer and a 99 Yam 150. So I can remove the motor and put it on my ProLine. Of course I bought it for a good price so whever I can get for the wellcraft & trailer is a plus. Good luck.
