Which bilge blower style - bullet or squirrel cage?

My blower broke apart this weekend. Dang thing separated at the motor and blower bolts. The bolts are still attached to the motor with the plastic from the blower mounts still there too. So which type do I go with as a replacement? The bullet type blowers seems less expensive although I imagine they are the less efficient fan blades instead of the standard squirrel cage blower. But does it really matter? Boat is a 1976 Fiberform with a Volvo I/O combination. The engine compartment is well ventilated and is compartmented off so there shouldn't be anything special about my setup.

I remember someone making a comment about replacing "the cheapo inline blowers" (or something to that effect). Any pros or cons either way?

Thanks

look at the volume of air flow for each, then decide which you want. i prefer bullet, because you can attach a hose to the inlet side, and lower it into the bottom of the bilge, where flamable gases are, that is what you want out of the engine and bilge.

I like the bullet that came with the boat, had to remove a couple of times to do other work that I needed to get to, Like T.D. said easy to install and hook up hoses.

the bullet type are a lot easier to acquire too.
i've got the squirrel cage type. it's proper for my boat and the hoses directed appropriately. so when i replaced mine. i felt it necessary to keep it as such. i doubt a bullet type word even work the way my boat is built.. if i had the choice. i'd go with the bullet type just on ease for acquisition.. + if that's what ya got, might as well make it R&R. likely easier to do... same thing for my rig. except the squirrel cage was the easiest way to go for me. it was R&R. i'm lazy if i can be...
