Which Bayliner Runabout - 2000 1800 Capri BR (125hp) vs 2011 180 BR (90hp)?

Hello, I am looking at two different bayliner runabout outboard boats that are very similar except age and horsepower. The newer one is nicer in some other ways... factory ski pole, cover, bimini, etc vs custom and third party stuff on the 2000. However, the 2000 has that slightly bigger motor which is killing me. It's also fairly clean for the age but obviously not as clean as the 2011. I will probably only ski 3-4 times a summer, fish maybe 6 and do just cruising sessions a good dozen times. Any thoughts on the below choices? I didnt know if there was anything i wasnt thinking of due to age of boat/motors. Thanks!

2000 Bayliner 1800 Capri BR (Mercury 125hp 4 stroke) $8,800

2011 Bayliner 180 BR (Mercury 90hp 4 stroke) $10,000

Definitely the 2011. It's not a powerhouse, however, so be prepared to swop props for different loads. The extra hp of the 2000 is not worth the age of the boat. Unless you're absolutely sure the 2000 was stored indoors and the structure is not rotten stay away.

I dont think you will do much skiing behind the 90. Definitely would need a lower pitch prop for the 90. I used to swap props on my 3.0/135 hp powered boat when we went skiing. Not that much work to do if you are in waist deep water ...

How many people to you plan to take out when you go?

Personally I would go with the more power because I have enjoyed my boats more when they have about the top hp offered for that model, but your use may be different.

Two thoughts - the seller of the 2000 is priced too high. Not sure if you have looked at what these should sell for in your area. If they are crazy on price move on.

Other thought is if you like the newer one by it if you like it and want more power you can always repower with a used 125 or upgrade down the road. I had a similar sized sea ray, once my kids got older and bigger and we determined we liked boating as a family it made sense to upgrade to a 21 ft
