Which battery?

I have a Lund Classic SS 1775. The trolling motor is running off 2 new deep cycle batteries in the bow.
The 90 Merc, bilge pump, live well and Lowrance HDS 9 Touch is running off the original 5 year old type 24 cranking battery. It needs to be replaced as its not holding a charge.

Question is should I stay with the cranking battery or switch to one of the dual starting deep cycle batteries? I plan on getting a type 27

Thanks

Re: Which battery?

By cranking battery, you mean a typical automotive battery?
I'd go with a deep cycle. The automotive might work for a light use, but a deep cycle is more resilient to repeatedly running the charge down and re-charging it.

Of course, I have an automotive background, so you might take that with a grain of salt.

A marine cranking or dual purpose battery will work fine.

I run AGM's, a little pricey, but well worth it for the money. Search 8a27dt, which is an mk made by deka. I run them with no issues ever.
