I have been skiing and tubing all my life, though I have never tried wake boarding. I see some elaborate setups, wake towers, skis w/ bindings etc.

I am wanting to give it a shot, though not really wanting to go out and buy a tower etc. What is a good board to start out with or what features on a board should I look for? I don't plan on competing or anything just entry level.

FYI I have a 4.3L (190hp) Merc 19ft cuddy.

Thanks an advance,

You don't need the elaborate setups that you see on a lot of boats to wakeboard. My first boat was similar to what you have (but bowrider) and we had a great time wakeboarding with it. The towers do make it a little easier to get up on the board since it naturally pulls in more of an upward direction, but the main purpose for them is to get big air. If you're just starting out, that's not much of a concern.

As far as a board/binding setup goes, I just recommend that you get a board that is big enough for you. If you go too small, it will be more difficult and frustrating to learn since there is less surface area to support you on the water.

Check out this link for some great info. on choosing the right size and steup...http://www.evo.com/how-to-choose-a-wakeboard-and-wakeboard-size-chart.aspx

you can rent boards too from shops. let's you try different boards before plunking the cash down. sometimes you can apply your rental costs to the new board.
