I need one between 90-125 2stroke for the weight advantage. Which brand should I get who has the best prices on non current year new outboards. The evinrude might work but its white is the silver johnson the same motor. I checkedout iboats for an outboard but cant find New ones. I am not interested in rebuilds could be the engine might have a bad Karma or something.

Re: Where to order my new outboard?

Fishmaster,
I would go with Merc for three reasons:
1. I really like Mercury!
2. Nobody is totally sure what is going to happen with the OMC/bombardiar swap, parts, service, etc.
3. I really like Mercury.

The fact is though, a Johnson will probably be the cheapest new motor.(worth getting) When I priced them a while back, a Johnson was almost 2000 dollars cheaper than a merc or evinrude. (90 hp) Usually an evinrude and johnson are basically the same, but the evinrude has more bells and whistles and is more top of the line, so the dealer's say. For instance, the dealer close to me told me that they are basically the same, except evinrude is fuel injected, or direct injected, and Johnson is going to stay with carbs. Hope this helps and good luck. ;)

Re: Where to order my new outboard?

I've grown up on Mercs. They always ran flawless for my dad. When I repowered my boat back in '87, Mercury was having problems with the 'new No Lead gas burning Valves so I passed on them and spent extra money on a Yamaha. The only problem I have had with that motor is that just last weekend my oil injection control module is getting flaky. The engine has been perfect since '87 and that's on saltwater.
Johnston is probably the best priced unit, I hope the buyout doesn't screw them up. The Yammy is pricey but at the time it was 4 years ahead of everyone with it's oil injection behind the carbs and the intellegence of it's Limp-Home features.

If looking at a MErcury, Sundance Marine in Ft Lauderdale ALWAYS has good merc deal as does KENYONPOWERBOATS.COM.
