Where to mount Pitot

New to boating world. not 100% sure the names of the different areas...not sure what is being referenced to as the stern or white water... need to know where to properly mount the Pitot and what is a good product for filling holes.
Have read serveral post, but they all kind of like go around what i am asking. ot use names i am not familiar with. please see pic of my transom.

Just wondering.... is there a reason you don't want it mounted where the original factory one was mounted? I can see that it's close to the bunk on your trailer, but does it not clear?

...and for filling the holes, 3M 5200 sealant. Available at any marine store or at Home Depot in the paint department.

No reason I just did not know if the previous owner had moved it due to all the holes.. i will put it back there. did not know that was the factory location...works for me. i am in the learning process....
