Where to mount outboard and trolling motor

I have a 14' semi-vee aluminum boat for fishing. Until recently I used it on electric-only lakes, but I recently acquired a 10 HP outboard for it (necessary given that I recently moved and my closest water is a humongous lake). Both of these motors are transom mount. My question is where should I mount these two motors? The transom is about 54" across. I would assume since the 10 HP would be used for primary power, I would want to mount that on the centerline. Is it okay to mount the trolling motor off to one side? Do I need to tilt the outboard up out of the water when I am on the trolling motor and vice versa? Sorry if these questions seem obvious, but this is stuff I don't want to have to figure out on the fly.

Thanks

No problem with mounting the trolling motor on the side of the transom. I have mine as far over as possible to prevent steering conflicts. Centering the gas outboard is essential for good tracking.

When using the trolling motor, you can just leave the outboard down. However, when using the gas outboard, you need to tip the trolling motor out of the water or you'll end up with water in your boat, especially at higher speeds.

if fishing alone you are going to need weight in the bow, why not bow mount the motor, and have the battery forward also. you can turn the head of the electric motor around, so the handle is in the right position. these work very well.

That is a great solution! One question, do you know how to turn the head around? The owner's manual doesn't cover this particular procedure. :)

Never mind. I found a thread where this has already been discussed. Gotta love this forum!
