Are there any rules as to where and how a transom mount motor needs to be mounted on the transom? Does it need to be as close to center as possible, or is it OK on the very side?
If I mount the bracket really close to the edge of the transom, when I stow the motor it will rest over the gunwale and won't intrude into the boat.
Also, when I mount the motor bracket does it need to go right through the transom, or can it just screw in along with some 5200? I'm getting a 40 lb unit tomorrow along with a bracket since there is no edge on my transom that can take the motor without a separate bracket.
Any thoughts appreciated.....
