where to get tach signal on 87 85hp force ? bought a 5 pole tach for the engine, where to get signal?

I think there should be a wire in the harnes.

can you be more specific? im pretty good with this stuff, was lookin around the stator to tap into for a signal but am unsure....any more thoughts?

Should be a purple wire running from the rectifier to the dash.<br />Believe you need a 20 pole tach for that motor.

I have a 1984 - 85hp Force engine on my 16ft Bayliner Fish and Ski, and mine had a purple wire under the dash that was the tach, which agreed with my engine manual. Already had a nice connector on it. Also, I did need a 20 pole tach, like Roscoe said.<br /><br />Have fun,<br /><br />Mike

20 pole tachs are hard to find. Teleflex makes one for chrysler force applications.P/N 53743P, International High-profile style.
