I need to find the following parts for my 1963 rude big twin 40hp.... Carb rebuild kit, impeller, screw for bottom end close to propeller(oil leaking out) and the rubber seal or weather strip that goes around the shroud where the cover lifts off the top, hasn't ran in few years so whatever other parts you would suggest to make it reliable

Hi Liam5340,

Well; since iboats is nice enough to host this fantastic forum, a lot of the enthusiasts here are reluctant to suggest a competitor to iboats. From your list above; you should have no problem getting the carb kit, impeller and lower unit screw from iboats. The cowling seal for a 1963? Wow...your guess is as good as mine. E-bay maybe...or one of the salvage yards.

First step if I were you would be to use your motor's model number to start searching for the original OMC part numbers for everything that you need. That will allow you to then figure out what numbers are currently being used for today's parts.

If you post the model number here I can probably give you the part number for that weather-stripping.

Good luck; keep asking questions.

Chuck

PS: As for making your motor more reliable....you don't mention the condition of the ignition system. The coils on those are usually ripe for replacement if they're original. Most people do it all while they're "in there". (You have to pull the flywheeel....) Replace points, condensors and coils....even the plug wires......

For the cowl gasket, you might try nymarine.ca. If they have it, it'll be expensive.
