Re: where is the water discharge on a 5hp angler
65 evinrude angler just got it. starts fine, have lower end about 2in above propeller in water. A small amount of water comes out of the exhaust holes, (not in water). Where is the discharge and how much should i have it submerged? don't want to smoke the engine.
The small amount you see coming out is all that you will see. Most of it goes out with the main unerwater exhaust.
You should have it deep enough to submerge the water pump before startup. That is in the bulge above the flat plate.
So when was the water pump impeller last replaced? If a long time, or you don't know, you should do it whether it needs it or not. They DO fail unexpectedly, and at the worst time. Just because it is pumping now is no sign it will pump tomorrow.....or ten minutes from now.
