I did not want to post two seperate topics in the same post so here is another question for the wiser heads in the group:

I 70 Skipjack 20' open cruiser with a 250 inline six and an "R" series Mercruiser outdrive (the one with a hole in the top of the upper unit and two tilt rams with two hydraulic lines at the forward end of each ram). I have the Seylor (sp?) manual for the 64 and above mercruisers. I replaced the power trim pump and motor a few days ago due to a failed motor ( i tested by going directly to the motor from a battery) the new motor will not run when the upper out/up button is depressed but runs and tilts the drive up if the center button only is depressed (only the center button it also tilts up if both the center and top buttons are pushed) the down function works fine. Acording to my manual this coud be caused by a fault in the limit switch. I cannnot find the limit switch is it part of the hydraulic posotion sending unit (wich works only erraticaly)? , is their even a limit switch on these models?

Thanks in advance for any help

Re: where is the limit switch

That's the way its supposed to work. The center button is connected to the trim limit so that you dont raise the drive to high while underway. Pushing both center and top button is to raise the drive for trailoring.

Trim limit is located on the port side of the drive at the pivot point on the gimble housing.
