Where is my thermostat?

1987 25hp Mariner Serial#0B211923. Where is the thermostat? I don't think I have one. Took my exhaust manifold off looking for it... wasted two perfectly new gaskets on the witch hunt.

Please help anybody...

I know the big boys (I6 engines) and the smaller (7.5) didn't have stats back then. Would assume the 25 didn't either. Best place to look for it would be a bulge in the water jacket cover over the top of the pistons....the area around where your plugs are. A stat would probably be a distinctive cover bolted onto/over the mentioned jacket, held in place with a couple of screws.

OB stats look and function just like car stats and are located in the same (functional) places...just smaller.

Then that confirms it. It definitely does not have one. I have searched everywhere and there is no other logical place than pulling the power head (which is not logical) to look for it.

Thanks..I do not have a stat - which is fine bc i live in FL and it's always hot down here.
