Where does this wire go

93 yammy 650 wvr III i'm replaciing the starter and i happened to noticed the negative battery wire "black" coming from the battery isn't connected to anything?? does it go to the block or the starter??? i'm stumped thanks Erik

it's usually mounted on or close to the starter
