Obviously my local boat shop has them, but they are expensive. Are there any other common places that carry bilge pumps that I'm maybe not thinking of?
Don't know the size of your boat where you go or if you brave high seas etc in your craft. One thing I do know, if you bury the bow or take a following sea over the stern you don't want a cheap bilge pump getting the water out while your floundering in rough water. It all depends on the above and don't forget a heavy rain has sunk many a small boat. Whole idea is keep boat afloat with you high and dry.
Good luck ya'll
we seem to be hooked on the thought of a single pump.
what's wrong with multiple pumps?
redundancy seems like a good thing to me and i carry three, two active and one spare.
replaced the fuel fills with combo fuel fill & vent units picked up on ebay.
that leaves the port on the side of the boat for vent to be used for the other bildge pump.
heavy rain will be handled by the fully enclosed top, if it's nice the top can go down.
69 starcraft islander 22 will be fully redone by next spring including rebuilding the 120 and a new transom, all other wood has been replaced.
back to bildge pumps and my reasoning for multiple pumps.
the cumberland/tennessee 1000 mile trip and the green river/moab 184 mile cruise.
point blank boating seems a lot like flying, no room for complacency.
Thats what I'm talking about..people think I'm nuts, redundancy is an art!!!
