Re: Where can I get a windshield for a 82 kingfisher?
underwater:

I am reposting this over for you... let me know what you found on previous post.

---------------------------------------------
fone_man
Captain
Member # 3352
Member Rated:

posted August 22, 2001 08:58 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BULLDOG:
In an interest to assist the members of iboats.com, I have been researching the issue of windshields for thier boats, etc..

My experiences have ranged from using a local supplier for glass for 87 FourWinns to locating alunimum frame work for my 86 FourWinns in FL, so I guess I would have a 75% success rate!!!

What I have seen in various spots on the Web is Plastic Companies specializing in recreating new windshields/windscreens from old ones (making mold) or completely replacing with new framework, etc. which would include some fiberglass repair.

The above would facilitate removing existing windshield/windscreen and forwarding to one of these fabricators... so it looks like in the off-season you will be removing such & starting a new project to keep yoursewlf entertained throughout the winter months.

So... if you have flat tempered glass, your local glass company can get something to work but you need to remove framework to have it done correctly... off-season again!!! If you have a plexiglass/lexan windshield that is curved then you will be looking at having one made via a plastics company.

Try to contact the boat manufacturer of your boat & get specs/supplier for windshield... they have records, make sure you take pictures that can be forwarded to the supplier & specifications. With the consolidation of the boat manufacturers industry, your boat might be made by someone else now or a different supplier is used.

Yours being a Bayliner, shouldn't be much of a problem but I would also research the used/junk boatyard locations within your area & if you find a boat/model like yours you might get lucky... I know this doesn't answer your question but if you need some sources, feel free to email me at...
