Where can I find locktite 518

I am told that when putting my motor back together, the only sealent or adhesive to use is locktite 518 gasket eliminator. If this is good advice, where can I find this?

hello.<br />Easy now.<br />Locktite is great stuff to prevent your nuts and bolts from vibrating loose.It will also prevent corrosion on your nuts and bolts if used the right way.The good locktite for this comes in a blue tube available in any car parts store.To use it as a sealant possibly instead of manifactorer's advised gaskets or seals makes it a far trickier and in my eyes very risky enterprise.Go with the manual or an experienced OUTBOARD MECHANIC'S advice.You do not only want to put the engine together,you also want to be able to take it apart later on.<br />Good Luck.

Loctite 518 and 7649 primer are what you need. It comes in a kit #22423. You can get this stuff at places like Acklands/Grainger or any industrial tool supplier.<br /><br />rolmops<br />Loctite makes crankcase sealant, among a zillion other products. <br />

Hi Sandman<br />Just my opinion but Loctite 'Gasket Eliminator' is great stuff.Its anerodic which means it only sets without air.(so lumps wont set and fall in the engine if your a little heavy handed)<br />You can always get things apart.Dosnt have a high acidity so wont eat the aluminium.<br />Its expensive,dont buy a copy brand.<br />Where to buy? Look it up on the web.

THIS IS GREAT STUFF AND CAN ALSO BE PURCHASED THROUGH ANY JOHN/RUDE DEALER . THEY CALL IT GEL SEAL BUT IT IS THE SAME STUFF AND IS MADE BY LOCTITE FOR THEM .
