I own a 1966 9.8hp Mercury outboard and just purchases a 14ft Fisher fishing boat. Well, you guessed it, I need a long shaft conversion kit for optimum speed. Can anyone help me with where to find a long shaft conversion kit? I was told Bay manufacturing has the kits, but they stopped producing them about 2 years ago. Not enough demand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Mercury never made a extention kit for your engine and your right Bay pattern did but stopped, your only chance it to comb marinas and ebay for a doner engine or parts the kit or long shaft bottom end are the same on the 110s or 9.8 HP engines

Thank you for the prompt response. I already found the long shaft mid housing but still need the drive and shift shaft extensions. I can actually lengthen the water pickup hose myself but am looking for a spline sleeve/material to lengthen the drive and shift shaft. Do you have any ideas where I might get ahold of spline material? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks
