Hahahaha. thanks for the advice! Actually, I got a "bait net" with my boat and tried to use it the other day. That was good comedy. I went to walmart and looked at the instructions that came with new ones and they were like 25 steps long. I said f this, i'm buying live bait till someone can show me how to use the net.

lolol, those throwing nets are a pain in the azz ... never try to use one after a few beers while on pain meds in a narrow beam rowboat ... over ya go, and get tangled in yer own damnn net, and almost drown ...

sheesh!

I know a little store off the PW Parkway just south of Manassas but I dunno about Sterling.

Have you tried a minnow trap? The heck with those nets! Get some crackers or stale bread and put a minnow trap overboard. It works great for me but I haven't tried it in freshwater. I'm sure it'll work the same though.

Backhall Mall still sells minnows? I haven't been in there in years, have to stop in and pick up a soda. There's a place on Rt. 1 in Woodbridge, I think at or just north of Cardinal Drive that has minnows. Best bet most of the time is the trap though, works well.

Since we're all neighbors, who's fishing for what and where?

Hi Tom,

I'm also in Manassas full time but I keep my boat at my place on the Northern Neck (near Lively, VA) on Greenvale Creek.

When I fish locally I fish from my 12' kayak (rod holders, fish finder & GPS equipped). You'll see me on Bull Run and Lake Manassas. I can't seem to catch bass to save my life but I can usually catch a few catfish. They're about the only fresh-water fish I like to eat anyway.

When I'm in Lancaster Co., VA I'm fishing in the Rappahanock River (near the Bay) for croakers, spots, flounders and stripers when they're in season.

Shoot me an e-mail Snailman22030@Comcast.Net
