Where are the Tri Haul Boats?

I had a friend of mine that had a really nice 1960's Tri haul Boat..All I remember it was Blue on Top (light Blue) white on the bottom. Had an Evinrude I/O drive and could seat 10 people easily... It was so smooth on the water and powerful..I think it was 18-20 ft.. Anyone know what it is and what happend to the TRI Hauls???<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Frank

Most were very heavy and poor performing.<br />There are still a few being made, I think.

searay,<br /><br />Tri hulls fell out of favor because of their ride qualities. <br /><br />They did have many attributes though:<br /><br />1. Stable.<br /><br />2. Could carry huge weights.<br /><br />3. Generally dry ride.<br /><br />They were however,<br /><br />1. Rough riding.<br /><br />2. Heavy.<br /><br />As mentioned, some are still being made. Not a bad design, the market just changed.

They went out with Avocado stoves and Harvest Gold refrigerators.<br /><br />I had a blue 17' tri-hull...they were trendy for awhile. Did not handle waves well.

I still have a 14' starcraft tri-hull center console sitting on blocks, that thing beat the living crap out of me, and if it was rough, we would be soaked to the bone- litterally. <br /><br />-John

Ditto.<br />Ditto.<br />Ditto.<br /><br />Best bet today is to go for a pontoon boat (large flat stable platform) or a catamaran hull boat (which supposedly is somewhat better than the tri-hulls).<br /><br />I've ridden a pontoon on a fairly calm day but not on rough water. It's great on pretty smooth water.
