Where are the "sand pits" on the James River below Richmond, VA?

Hello,

I'm supposed to be on the James below Richmond tomorrow. I keep hearing the "Sand pits" are a great place to hang out. Can someone tell me how to get there?

OK, I found the sand / gravel pits on the lower James below Richmond.

They're west of the Presquille wild life refuge and east of the rt 295 bridge.

The place has a great beach to hang out on.

There's plenty of space to pull up on.
