1. The snakes who write software viruses...?
2. The parasites who spam your email with phony business propositions...?
3. The parasites who ignore your standing on the "no-call list" and pester you with marketing calls...?

In their own ways, each ignores the law, as well as conventional values. Each costs everyone money, directly or indirectly. And each represents a faction in today's world that does absolutely no good for anyone except themselves. These characteristics would be a proper description of criminals of any stripe.

Yet, while a guy can be jailed for less, it appears that there is no concerted law enforcement effort to corral these b_st_rds until they fleece someone rich and famous or crack the computer system of a large company. And when the're caught, especially the virus creators, they are often slapped on the butt and then hired by software companies to work in their security divisions.

I'd reward them alright, the old fashioned way. Take 'em behind the woodshed and beat the hell out of 'em.

I'm curious about how all of you feel about them. What would you do to teach a lesson to these no-accounts if/when they are caught?

I would identify them and then make them pay a very large fine.If they cant pay up I would take every thing they have now and for many years to come. We need to not forget that there are thousands of people working like busy little beavers 24/7 behind their computers trying to figure out any angle they can to steal from the honest people using the internet.

I would put them in a work farm/jail. It would have no electricity or comunication outside it's walls.

Lock them in an empty room with nothing but a phone that can only receive calls. Their only contact with the "outside" world would be telemarketers that call them every 2 minutes, 24 hours a day. Or, stand them on a busy street corner with a large sign listing their infractions against the world and let people through rotten fruit at them for 12 to 14 hours a day and then lock them in the room with the phone the rest of the day.

Some pretty imaginative responses. I would rather give them something that lasts a very long time.....like a permanent reminder of thier misdeeds.
A .22 cal bullet through the kneecap should do it. That way, every time they get out of bed and put weight on that leg..........every time they squat or kneel down to pick something up.........everytime they climb some stairs..........they will remember me. They will remember what I did to them, and they will remember why. They'll also remember the last thing I said to them.............."Next time, I'll make it so you never walk again",

I agree that they deserve something fiendish, but I have a question:

I can see that spammers and telemarketers are trying to make money, but what about the evil software authors? What benefit are they seeking?

I would sentence them to 10 years of working with "technology challenged" people, showing them how to use their PC's, smartphones, tablets, etc.

I would lock them up about 10 at a time in a room with only one old pay phone. The phone would only be in random service for 15 minutes a day and they would have to figure out which 15 minutes that would be. ................sometimes when they did finally get the phone to work they would have to speak with someone from nigeria with bad english to get their connection......

I’ve always had the suspicion that viruses are the work of the anti-virus companies or people hired by them to propagate new viruses to keep sales up.

Anyone every read Esops Fables. There was a good one about the cat eating all the mice, and the solution the young mouse came up with. Bit like the solutions above.

I rarely get spam emails for some reason. My land line, on the other hand, gets almost nothing else but spam calls, generally about 3 or 4 a day. One number alone has called me over 30 times in the past week. Do Not Call is a waste of time as far as I can tell.
