I have a mid 90's yamaha 8hp 2 stroke outboard - engine runs great, good and even compression on both cylinders but lower end met a rock or 5 at speed (Teenagers!!).

Question - With the following symptoms should I just junk it?
Prop - obviously very damaged, chunks missing etc
Propsaft - now can be moved in and out a little more then a 1/4 inch (Shaft moves)
Dark black oil is leaking from around the prop and from vent hole at top of lower unit
Skeg and case is actually mostly OK - no cracks or missing bits. Just obvious impact marks.
Impeller is toast from said teenager running it out of the water to inspect it.

Forward and reverse still work and no odd sounds... Just the dark black oil leaks and shaft movement.

Any comments welcome. oh and for the record I'm glad the teenage in question was OK so I can tease him going forward.

What might this engine legitimately sell for given the above issues?

1st off are you sure it is lower unit oil or could it be unburned 2st oil and fuel mix with a lot of carbon? Smell it , lower unit oil has a distinct smell. Drain the lower unit and see if there is any water in it and pressure check it.

Did the shaft move like that before the hit?
Most of the time the shaft would be bent not slack from a hit.
Just my thoughts
