Re: Wheel Hub Type

Sorry about that I tried to attach a couple of pictures so you could see the hub. Maybe someone should help me with inserting or attaching pictures to my posting. Sorry for the trouble, I tried, thanks for the help.

You have to have your pictures hosted by someone like Photobucket.com and then post the link to the photo here.

Re: Wheel Hub Type

The wheels have been equipped with Bearing Buddies that have been seriously misused. This mess needs to be cleaned up. Chances are the back side of each wheel is also a mess. If that's the case, new seals are required. Bearing buddies need grease added only to the point where the center disc moves slightly. Any more than that and seal failure will occur. Rubber caps are available to cover the Bearing Buddy but lack of them are not the cause of the mess. Caps are available at most discount stores and sporting good stores that sell boating supplies and equipment. Any marine dealer should have them as well.

Using a rubber mallet or a regular hammer and a piece of wood, tap sharply on one side and then the other, working your way around the buddy bearing until it comes off. Sometimes they can be on pretty good...They are just a press fit in the hub....

Re: Wheel Hub Type

Bearing Buddies are an interference fit in the hubs and as such are driven on and likewise must be driven off. Use a dead blow mallet to tap around the housing. It will eventually fall off. Place a piece of hardwood against the end to drive them back on.

Re: Wheel Hub Type

Thanks to both you guys!!!!!! I don't know why these people around here don't know whats going on.

But again thanks for all the help and I'm trying to get out
to lake Michigan but the boat is to unreliable, I mean
look at the wheels. For now I'll end the season put putting around a rock cut state park, but the fishing sucks.

I knocked them off and slapped new ones on and cleaned the hubs up and it works perfect. I'm getting new hubs this winter. What a great group to belong to!!!!
