Howdy all, I live in upstate NY in the Adirondack Mountains. (Saranac Lake) to be exact. And Just wondering what your setup is. I just bought 3 new rods and have been skunked on alot of lakes lately. I usually use a christmas tree rig with a sinking lure or a worm on a Quantum Blue Runner combo and have only landed a few rock bass. It's been fluctuating with temperature lately so I don't know why they arent around. Post your setup, tips, or suggestions!

Most of the setups used on the Finger Lakes should work there. I don't think many guys here fish that area. Suggest you check out Lake Ontario United website & ask there.

If you're getting started with fishing Saranac Lake, the best thing is to visit 1 or 2 local tackle shops. They should be able to get you setup quick. I do a lot freshwater fishing in CT, but have fished quite a bit upstate. I know that area has some great smallmouth fishing and you should try for them. Nothing beats catching a smallie either. They are awesome fish to catch. Especially now in summer, they will be easier to locate then trout.
Are you fishing from a boat or shoreline?

Good luck
