I HAD THE CARBS REBUILT, BOUGHT A NEW TANK AND LINES, CHANGED THE PLUGS AND DID A COMPRESSION CHECK. you can pull the plug wire off the top cylinder and the motor wants to die but pull the plug wire off the bottom cylinder and not much affect at all. whats wrong?? they said it might be the fuel pump??? ab3838@aol.com

Re: WHATS WRONG

Do a compression check AB. Your #2 may be sick, or you may have had an unsuccessful rebuild on the lower carb.

Let us know what you find.
Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: WHATS WRONG

Something to check: Maybe the motor has bad reeds, they control the air fuel mixture. The way to check is to place the motor in a test barrel and start it up, then let it idle. Take and ordinary business card and hold it over the carborator to see if a mist appears on the card, there should be none. Another thing to keep in mind is that the syncronization of evinrude / johnson is very critical. I had this problem with my 35 horse for many many hours, they're very touchy.
