I have been working with a friend of mine on his 3.0L that gets a lot of water in the oil. My ?? is what is under the plate on the stbd side of the motor? It runs along the whole side. My guess is the CAM. His motor dumps water in the oil. The cyls are dry and there wasn't any rust in them when the head was pulled. The head has been pressure tested good. The compression numbers where low on the number 1 cyl (95psi) and good on the back 3 (150)good. He wants to believe that the head gasket was bad but it looked almost new when we pulled the head. How do you seal-up the block to pressure test it? Think we should pull this plate and inspect further?? Thanks

The only thing you can access thru that cover is the lifters, the cam is well below that.

So would it be a waste of time to look for a water leak there? Thanx Don.

Ayuh,.........

After he Pulls the Motor,......Flip it Up-side down,+ pull the Oil Pan......
He's going to see his Crack, along in Portside of the motor, Inside opposite the Drain Plug......
