What's the wire spring on needle?

I just started to rebuild the carbs from my 77 Evinrude 115 hp M/n 115793B the old needle had no wire spring on them the new did,how does the spring fit?

It goes around the cut in the bottom of the needle, then over the metal tab on the float. The spring pulls the needle out of the seat when the float goes down. It's important on rubber tipped needles as they tend to stick.

Thanks for the info I will have to pull the fuel bowls off again no big deal....

i have a 77' 115 johnson , does anyone know if IT has springs in the needle valves?

Some do, some don't, it depends on the kits you used.<br /><br />The spring merely holds the needle in place for assembly.
