WHATS THE RIGHT RPMS???????

I'M proping my boat & the dealer told me the WOT. for my motor is: with a heavy load, 5000, with a light load, 6000., but when i called to order a prop the guy looked up my motor & said the WOT. for my motor is, 4500--5500??? WHARE CAN I FIND OUT WHO IS RIGHT??? I JUST ORDEDED A PROP WITH A 13" PITCH becouse my WOT with a 15" pitch & light load is 5000...don't want to over rev my motor!!!can some one PLEASE HELP ME???THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE on this subject....

HELLO......after i looked at my post i realized i forgot to tell you: the motor i'm talking about is a 1979 Evinrude commerical 55 hp.with power tilt & trim...... thanks alot....ALEX,...

Your dealer has it right.Anything under around 5250 capability at wot will cause your engine to be lugged ,sort of like an auto climbing a grade in too high a gear.Ideal would be between 5500-6000.

CC,<br /><br />6000 with a light load will not hurt your engine.<br /><br />You don't have to run it WOT all the time.

HEY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!,you guys made me feel a whole lot better :D about me buying a new prop to get the R's up on the motor...THANKS AGAIN......Al.....Semper-Fi..........
