What's that Clicking Noise?

Engine is a 2002, 115 HP, 4 Stroke Mercury Outboard – When I shut the motor off I hear a click click click click for about 3 seconds. Sounds kinda like the same noise you hear when you coast without turning the pedals on a bicycle. Is this normal? Any idea what this is coming from?

Maybe it is your prop free wheeling.

I hear the same thing coming from the engine of my '88 Suzuki 30 hp., but only when I turn it off in gear.
