HI Everyone,

Just took a peak at my engine mounts on a 318 striaght inboard and they're all rusty and flakey.

I guess this means they need to be changed?
Does it cost much to change?

Ps. The boat is a 1977.

Thanks,
Lou

I'm not sure what they cost but to change them... Ideally, you should pull your prop shaft and check it for straightness, change all your mounts and then reinstall the shaft and align the motor/trans.

if i were you, I would just clean them up with a wire brush and put a couple of coats of rustoleum on them. they most likely are made out of some fairly thick metal and what you see is just some surface rust......... But, If you need to replace them Magster pretty well summed it up.

Just did this job... Built my own mounts from scrounged up parts and steel plate...

I'm with Magster & Flashback, just check the rubber bushings (if equipped) for wear... If the rubber's shot, then replace em'...
engine & tans mounts
