If your like me I can't just walk into a Tackle area without picking something out i may need in the future.

I probably have five to ten lures which are my favorite and the other hundred end up just waiting. Third tackle box here and increasing

Just curious if you folks have same addiction as me and also whats in your treasure cove of useless fin attractors? My favorite useless lure was my motorized Go-Bobber which some of you may remember when i was land-locked...

Re: "Whats in yours"

I know all to well Gonefishin. Last sunday I went to my favorite tackle store "just to look around" One new reel one new rod and 275$ later I got out of the place. I don't know what it is,,, Maybe spinners aliens take over my mind or something. I just cant put my finger on it. When I come out of the trance I always seem to be saying " Honest honey I really needed this stuff" I have a bunch of stuff I will never use including copper bells that attach to your rod tip to warn of a hook up, lighted bobers, sparkle eyed wobbler, light up lure etc etc.

Re: "Whats in yours"

my tackle "bag" would be considered boring to you guys!
hooks: from small single up to #6tuna hooks & #6 double strenght octopus hooks.
weights: split shots to 5oz egg sinkers.
bobbers from small to 12" with a couple packs of light sticks to stuff into the big bobbers.
line: from 8lb to 80lb fusion.
i have a small box of small jigs & rooster tails.
most of my fishing is bait fishing for cats, i occasionally will do some small mouth fishing, ifi go for smallies i just go to wall mart & get a bag of 4"-6" lizzards.
oh, i have a bag of nabisco shredded wheat & strawberry jello, in case i get bored & want to catch a couple carp.

if ya can buy it i got it.

favorite useless lure is a topwater lure. you cast it out and give it a jerk. the jerk pulls a cord and winds it up. it then proceeds to move its tail until it unwinds, then you jerk it again.

only caught one fish on this.

You seen my suplies, nothing to exotic. But i gotta say if i was shore fishing one of those castable depthfinders would be a must. Even with a boat it is still pretty high on the cool list. Tied on that lure you gave me the other day to no availe but nothing else was workin either. Hopping to hit cass here in a couple weeks, I'll be thinkin of ya.

I find crank baits to be pretty worthless. Maybe I am not using them correctly. Bought one that is cool and expensive. You tug on the line and it sinks deeper (down to 40 ft the instructions say) Cool thing about it is that it will stay at the depth after you tug on it. When trolling with it it feels like you have a fish on the line. Never caught anything with it.

hello, my name is CRAB BAIT..i am a tackle-holic.. i have been clean for 37 months...

yep,, it's an addiction.. an incidious desease..

it ain't easy.. you have to hit rock bottom before you care to do somethin' about it...

but now i can walk down 'crank bait' row in any tackle store an admire the lures for what they are.. pretty painted pieces of balsa wood with sharp treble hooks...

an i know i don't haveta buy...

Congradulations Crab.. Looks like you sucessfully kicked the habbit... :D

I'm a bottom bumper... My offshore box is pretty simple.. Hooks and egg sinkers in various sizes, swivels, spool of 40 lb test for leader (i carry a little 60 lb flurocarbon too), couple big jigs, and a cooler full of frozen bait.... Live bait too when I can get it... :D Going to ivest in a few big trolling lures here in the near future...

My inshore boxes, now thats a totally different story.. If they make a grub body, I probably got it.. Jig heads out the wa-zoo.. throw in a mess of rat-l-traps(floaters mostly) and a few other crankbaits and that pretty much covers it....

Re: "Whats in yours"

All of this sounds too familiar!! I have a friend that swears I have a mental problem. You can fish here for bream to sharks and I fish for all of it. My wife said when I die she was taking all my unopened lures back and getting a refund on them. There ain't one left in the house. :D :D People do seem to look at me funny when I walk through Academy Sports with a straight jacket on.!!!  :D :p

TAZ

wikelam
I have that bait also. I only use it when I bored and the fish aint bitin. Throw it out, jerk it a few times crack a beer take it easy ...nothings gonna hit that supid contraption...let it float and take a break...where did it drift to?..Bam! 10 lb. Bowfin(mudfish). Next time, I wont even bring it in the boat. Caught a few other fish with it. All the hits happen 5-10 minutes after cast. Always after I lose sight of it or distracted.Ive never had the patients to watch it that long...

Re: "Whats in yours"

Just got my boat last winter so my experience at boat fishing is limited and so is my tackle box. Started out with trout and used my old wedding rings, and power bait. Salmon fishing just opened in earnest so I bought a book by a guy giving the best spots for each type of salmon on Puget Sound and the bait that works best for each.. So I bought a few of them went out last week and caught none. Not discouraged tho since I didn't see anything on the finder until it was almost time to go back. Spent the time learning how to use the downrigger, etc. So far the amount of money I spent on the boat and gear, I could have bought 3 1/2 tons of salmon

Jerry (undaunted)

Re: "Whats in yours"

Alot of you folks know that Muskie huntn is what gets my B/P going this time of year. Use to be could buy a few bass lures and spinners with a few bucks.

When it comes to gator lures Average expenditure is any where from ten to 20 bucks a shot. You can imagine the language i use when I lose one and get no fish.

Hmmm GoneFishing and Gonfishn different spelling but same game..really don't matter when it comes to huntn the fin...

Re: "Whats in yours"

Hows this for "Counting your chickens before they hatch"........

I bought a Lowrance x18C a few weeks ago and don't even have a boat to put it on yet !

Got a good deal 10% off and another 10% off for filling out a credit card. My savings was to the tune of about $150 so I went for it because I know that after breaking the bank account for the boat, it will be much harder to get things like this like this OK'd through wifie.

Kevin

Re: "Whats in yours"

Over the years I have amassed, copious large
amounts of tackle from flyfishing, salmon, halibut
pike, walleye... on and on, as the years have
passed I have learned that when I go after a
certain species I can usually put all the lures I
will need in my pocket.

Re: "Whats in yours"

Me and gonfishing are the same except I spell better ;) Decided I wanted to get out to the Sound from lake Wa. Rules are you gotta have fenders on both sides and 50' bow and fantail lines. Also got some of those neat clips that attach the fender to the rails. $50...my wife say's "when will it end". I tell her she'll miss me when I'm gone fishing to that big lake in the sky. Anyway, got out there and caught my 1st two salmon with my boat. One was a nice Chinook, 10-15 lbs (released, out of season)and a 3 lb pink.

Jerry
