Just bought a boat. Took it out 1 time and it ran perfect. Next day went to take it out and acted like the batteries were dead motor was turning very slow. So replaced the batteries all battery cables and starter. Did same exact thing. So I pulled the head and this is what I found. Is motor salvageable? How much would it cost. It's a 1991 force 150

It's really hard to tell which cylinder is which because the pics are all close ups. Anyways, you should have done a compression test and then post the numbers. This will indicate which cylinder is faulty. But based on the pics, the cylinder with rough piston crown has an indication of rings catching with the ports. If this is accurate, then the next move should be to remove the piston from the cylinder and make an inspection of the cylinder to analyze any scouring or gouging.

You can remove the piston by accessing it through the intake (carbs). Search the forum on how to do this.

If there is scoring on the cyl. wall?
Do the fingernail scratch test.
If you can feel any gouges? then it needs a bore job.

$250-400 parts (1 piston, gaskets)and lots of labor.
