What Year Yamahas + ?'s

[Reel Poor]

On a friends LX and SX 150 TXRZ. He is wanting thermostats(?) water pump assemblies and gear oil change. Is there anything I should know before doing this for him? Is there anything else that may need attention while doing these repairs. These are saltwater engines and rarely if ever get flushed. The boat is slip kept.

T it has trim and electric start, X its 25" shaft, R is remote control,Z is 2001
same with the LX but L indicates it was shipped with a left hand rotation lower.
wanna make any bets on how neglected the maint actually is ?

No bets....The present owner is a friend who knows nothing but run it, park it in the slip, and go home. He has owned the boat for about two years and has done no maintainance that I'm aware of. If you have any suggestionsor good info please let me in on the secrets. I don't have a repair manual on these motors.

do you have a yamaha dealer close by that you are on speaking terms with ?

We have a local dealer here that i have no problems with as I don't normaly do outboards. I'm just tryin to help a rich buddy save a buck on labor, since I sometimes use the boat myself I figured I would do some of the "light work". Most of my stuff is Mercruiser or late model Volvo Penta.

run by the yamaha dealer, get them to give you a copy of the maint schedule for OX66 EFI from one of the marine tech guides in 06,05 or 04.
when ya get a copy I will email ya my phone number and go through it line at a time.
you will need the O2 sensor test harness, the TPS test harness is nice and a digital multimeter.

read the above
but a Z suffix indicates a 2001 model year run Y is 2000 and A is 2002

dont need them.
merc and a few others never used year models.
all I need is a production run. the MOS will still state year of manufacture.
