What year Yamaha 9.9D outboard?

Please can anyone tell me which year is my Yamaha 9.9D 2-stroke outboard?<br /><br />Serial number plate is laid out in two lines:<br /><br />1st line: Yamaha 9.9D<br />2nd line: 682C L 392762<br /><br />I think it's 10 years old or more..<br /><br />Many thanks

thats not a US motor...that is a 1981...go to www.marinshopen.se and click on Yamaha and you'll find the guide

Thankz ZZZZZ. Went there, the guide says 1981 onwards. So I looked for the year when the 9.9E model was introduced - but it wasn't listed. The 9.9F is listed in 1995, so the best I've got is anything from 1981 to 1995!

if you look at the left side where it says the 6E7(682C) I think '81 is a pretty good bet

Hi ZZZZZ, I found that entry, but that is the year the 9.9D was introduced. It was produced for several years. Failing being able to learn which year mine was produced in I'd like to learn which was the last year it was made in?

There's an Australian Yamaha website that has viewable copies of old Yamaha manuals.<br /> http://www.yamahaownershandbook.com.au <br />The format of your serial number plate and mine are shown in these manuals. Hunt for the manual that contains yours, then hunt for the manual when the format changed. This gives you an idea of the last year of production. Unfortunately they don't explain what the letters mean.
