Hi folks,
I just got a little 3.5hp (NS3.5A) 309-1 82266 the guy working at the marine shop where I bought it from said it was a Nissan. Does anybody know what year this model would be? Are parts cheap? and where can I get parts.
Any info would be way cool.

Thanks

1993 model.

Parts can be purchased through your local dealer. Go to www.nissanmarine.com and you can search for dealers in your area.

Are parts cheap? I dunno, depends on your definition of cheap (and on the part) 8)

Thanks T for the info.
Cheap Hell yeah just like any other person on a budget.
Bought the motor for 60 bucks willing to sink 40-50 more for a carb rebuild kit(if needed), one plug, gear oil & seals so a 5 buck savings is huge for me.

Are you sure it needs repair? Unless there's something truly wrong, fresh gas ($3), carb cleaner ($5), SeaFoam engine decarbonizer ($7), and a spark plug ($3) will get get the most from what you have.
The carb kits don't have jets, just float, inlet needle, and gaskets - just check the inlet needle to see if the rubber at the tip is OK (conical or some seat impression) or shot (looks like it was extruded though the seat), as long as the float works and the valve seals, just clean the carb with spray cleaner.
Buy your gear oil at the auto parts store, its $4/quart or less and it isn't a different oil.
Don't be concerned if the starting and wide open running performance is a little inconsistent, small gasoline engines are just that way. If it starts on the first few pulls and then runs when you need it to, "it ain't broke - don't fix it".

Yo Poly,
I like the way you think about being on the cheap but ahh.. I kinda broke down and paid about 47 bucks for a carb kit & spark-plug connector to a local dealer. After learning about a leaky carb(gasket was not sealing) the fuel tank w/a funky smell i decided to just get the kit and do it
Any way the dealer guy Roy was a nice knowledgable older guy w/his own shop who said that these carbs on these smaller nissans are real simple like one screw connects the carb from the rest of the eng. Now if I had some pics on a carb assembly I would fell alot better .

Thanks
