What year is this Johnson. The owner says it's a 1990, my buddy seems to think it's alot older than that like it's a 1981-1984. <br />

<br />I've requested the serial number from him as I'm interested in buying this motor from him. I just wanted to see if anyone would recognize it. Thanks!

i dont think its a early 80s because i see trim amd tilt switch on the side and if i'm not mistaken they didnt have that switch.<br />but im not shure.<br />does it have vro?

I have an '83 Johnson 90. Different decals and no motor mounted t&t switch. Paint looks similar though.<br /><br />Dave

anyone know when they began mounting their T&T on the motor? <br />Didn't think he knew what he was talking about. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks gang! <br /><br />Any thoughts on this motor? Definatelyh be a step up from my 50hp Mariner.

My '90 90hp is painted differently as well, but the trim switch is in the right place, and the cover is the right shape. My gut says it is mid to late 80s, because of the gaudiness of the decals. But someone will eventually have an answer for you!<br /><br />funpilot

Aristotle....just post the model number. It's on the port transom bracket on a little metal plate. Or, look on the block for a large core plug. It'll be there too.

don't know about motor but the hood is off a 1991<br />you need to get modle number if its a 91 should read j90tlei

If you compare the bracket to reeldutch, you will see yours have the new style bracket, where you can clip on a little palstic thingue that hides the upper bolts, so has mine and it is a 1991, which I thing was the year they came out which that bracket. All that being said, a 1991 would contain EI in model numbers last three numbers, i exa: J90TLEI
