What year is this 90 ?

Hi guys,
I am trying to find out the exact details of the tag on this motor.
from what i can tell it is a Johnson 2000 build 90 HP long shaft.
The code is J90VLSSS
I have looked in the top secret file but the break downs do not match the details on this motors plate as on the 99 and up models do not have a designation for the V that is shown on this motors ID
just trying to find out what the V is for really as on the earlier models i know it ws for sepcial gearbox but what does it mean on a 2000 model ?
The motor itself is a 90 HP V4 ocean pro with OIS.

from what i can see it is a 2000 ( ss=00)
v=special gearcase
L=20" length

the third "s" is just the model run/suffix

Thanks for that,
I had a feeling that was the case all though odd that i had to piece together two year code tables to get thei motors ID

So now to find out what is a sepcial gearcase all about ???

You could go to shop.evinrude.com, look up your mtr in the parts break downs and maybe figure it out.
