What year is my motor?? I have looked but can't find it.

Hello,<br />I’m trying to find out what year/model my Mariner motor is to be able to by parts for it.<br />I was told by the seller that he Thinks it is a 1989.<br />I have looked at the Serial Numbers web site but I have had no luck.<br /><br />The serial number tag is painted over and I can no longer read the numbers. <br />The only numbers that I have found are on the head cover, 1 113 92, and a silver button, about the size of a quarter with a letter “M” under the numbers, on top of the power head, C185241.<br /><br />If these are not the right ones where else can I look?<br /><br />Thank you for the help,<br />Jon

look for a plate of the transom mounting bracket.

Thank you Tashas,<br />But, there is no plate on the transom braket just a sticker that I thought might have the serial numbers. But, this is also the sticker/tag that is painted over and can't be read.<br /><br />Jon

That C185241 looks like it should be the serial number (the # works at mercurypartsexpress.com but thier site is still screwed up). It was common for Merc to put the serial number on the silver plug.<br /><br />Likely a 1989 motor. What is the horsepower?

Hello AMD,<br />The HP is 150 Mariner. I tried the numbers on the Merc site but, as you know their site is not working.

AMD,<br />When looking for parts with that number (C185241) it never comes up in my search. And as you know you need a serial number to order the “correct” parts.<br /><br />If anyone has some info it would be very helpful.<br /><br />Thank you,<br />Jon
