"Howdy from Texas" just bought me another motor, and at the moment it looks as if I'm gonna have the same problem I had with my 6 hp evinrude. No specific year.kinda like I find the only fatherless motors, lol" china version perhaps? Just got an older motor, late seventies early eighties I'm thinking., it's a 7.5 mercury. Has the number 2 on the lower half of the dog house. Transom clamp serial number is 3803381 the same number is stamped on the lower #2 cylinder, was gonna type it in and find out a little about it, year model, water pump top cover etc. No matches found! How do I keep getting these odd ball motors? It says mercury comet/lightning I looked it over before buying it... New for sure parts and info would be readily available. I bet I could go buy a 2012 mercury 4 stroke load it in the truck tax title license, never even close the tailgate walk right back in the same store same salesman and they would tell me it don't even exist! Why me? I won't to get on here and talk about what I did to my boat or how about this fish, Heck I can't even put the trailer on the ball! Someone please help!!! Before I scrap it all and buy me a truck inner tube. You haven't heard? After October 31st compressed air is illegal !!! Would be my luck!
