what year is my mercury outboard?

Hello All,<br /><br />I have a mercury 25hp outboard that I would like to perform some service on. I would like to buy a clymer book, but I have no idea how old the motor is. I removed the cover and found a barcode sticker with the numbers M097206. Is this the serial number? If not, where is it located?<br /><br />One other thing, the motor has been unused since 1994. I plan to replace the impeller but what else should I considder since it has sat so long?<br />With a manual, how difficult is it to replace the impeller? Do I need any specialized tools?<br /><br />Any help will be greatly appreciated,<br /><br />Marc Webster

Hey Trent,<br /><br />I found the SN# ob387633 on the transom. based on the webpage you provided it looks to be a 1989. This makes since due to the sarter motor having a date stamp of 1988. anyway thanks for the info.<br /><br />Marc Webster
