What year is my Mariner?

Hi all - my first post.<br /><br />Just bought a boat and it came with a Mariner 5M outboard but no documents.<br /><br />The serial is 6E3 162646<br /><br />I had a look at the dutch site with this info but I can't read dutch!<br /><br />Anyone help out?<br /><br />TIA

Welcome to Iboats, Magicdog!<br /><br />That's a 1989 engine you have there, and was built by Yamaha for Mercury/Mariner. My uncle had one up until last year when it was stolen - it was an exceptionally well behaved and reliable engine. Probably the best one-lunger I've ever seen. <br /><br />Good luck with it!

Not yet, but there's a Nissan dealership not far from here. I expect to see one soon enough. Real nice I hear.<br /><br />That little yammi was always a treat to run - despite the (extensive) abuse it got. It had corrosion problems though. It got stolen during the week long power outage we had after hurricane Juan blew through here.
